The JMU Department of Physics offers a B.S. program in which students can choose from several different tracks to best suit their needs. The number of majors (about 70) is small compared to other departments at JMU but large compared to many other undergraduate-only physics departments around the country. This means that we can offer one-on-one mentoring by our faculty and small class sizes, but also have access to state-of-the-art research equipment. As with many majors at JMU, we emphasize learning by doing in our laboratory experiences and undergraduate research projects.
