Differential energy distribution

As far as I can tell, the most important thing I learned about today was the differential energy distribution function (dM/d\mathcal E).  It's useful when testing N-body models.  I also read about the singular isothermal sphere (which was essentially one of the problems on the comprehensive exam for thermodynamics).

I now have a computer in my office running Ubuntu 9.04 x86-64.  The MAC address has already been assigned a static IP address (this appears to be the case, anyway).  I can easily work from home when I want, via SSH.  I can also grab things from my workstation at home when I'm in my office.  The SSH tunnel will allow me to back-up my data.  The office computer doesn't have UPS or even a surge protector yet.
